OUR CULTURE & HISTORY

We’re Driven By Our Why

We all followed different pathways into commercial real estate. For most of us it was a "hidden in plain sight" industry that we needed to be invited into or come into through a very heavy door with many gatekeepers. Once inside, it was a revelation - we fell in love with commercial real estate and the creativity and resolve that it requires. Our firm is designed to open that possibility up to a wider audience of people that may feel the same way as we do. We are building a long-term sustainable business that operates on integrity, collaboration and is powered by excellence. We have to do this.

Continuing A Legacy of Excellence

The Greenwood CRE name is a salute to the Greenwood District of Tulsa, Oklahoma, which was called the “Black Wall Street” of the early 20th Century, an inspiring symbol of the economic potential of community collaboration and empowerment.

Founded in 1905, by O.W. Gurley - Greenwood, OK, located  outside of Tulsa, was where African Americans moved to achieve the American Dream. Thousands came to Greenwood to realize their full potential by joining a community that allowed them to fully participate as entrepreneurs including real estate owners, business owners and professionals. By 1921, Greenwood had become known as a beacon of wealth, education and advancement - rivaling areas of New York, Chicago and Atlanta. Black doctors, attorneys and realtors flourished, luxury hotels were built and millionaires were minted. Greenwood was seen as a place of possibility and excellence that was born out of necessity.

Our CRE industry has struggled with diversity and that's not due to a lack of talent, but is due to barriers to entry and resistance to change. We have the talent and experience needed to build a new path based on collaboration and excellence for the next generation.”

Invested In Developing Talent

We are working with HBCUs and the next generation of African American CRE professionals to provide them with the insights, mentoring, and support that many of us didn't receive on our own journeys. This is core to our mission and part of the legacy of excellence that we are building.
